Fluid Bed Drying Services
Q: What is fluid bed drying?
A: Fluid bed drying is a process by which particles, typically greater than 50 microns, are fluidized and dried. For the material to become fluidized, the particulates are placed under conditions that cause it to behave like a fluid. In a fluid bed drying system, air is passed through a perforated distributor plate which provides significant air flow to support the weight of the particles.
Q: What is the benefit of fluid bed drying in comparison to other drying services?
A: The gentle drying technique of fluid bed drying is an ideal way to evenly dry particulates to a specific moisture content and can be used for fragile materials.
The batch process of the fluid beds allows time and temperature to be varied depending on the physical properties and constraints of the materials. The drying temperatures can range from ambient temperature up to 120 degrees Celsius.
Q: Does AVEKA offer scale-up for fluid bed drying projects?
A: Yes! Extensive pre- and post-processing capabilities contribute to the turnkey experience AVEKA provides. We support projects from initial pilot testing through to full-scale production
