By Bryan Coltrane, Director of Quality at AVEKA
In the food, beverage, and chemical industries, quality control isn’t just a final checkpoint—it is built into every single step of the manufacturing process. Whether we are processing a specialized ingredient, custom blending a sensitive dietary supplement, or scaling up a new food-grade powder, our commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance remains absolute.
At AVEKA, maintaining customer trust starts with rigorous standards and controlled environments designed to protect your product from contamination and variability.
Rigorous Quality Control Standards
Quality assurance in contract manufacturing requires constant vigilance. From the moment raw materials arrive at our facility to the final packaging stage, our quality control protocols ensure consistency and safety.
Our approach relies on a combination of robust testing, traceability, and adherence to industry frameworks:
- Incoming Material Verification: Sampling and Testing raw materials for identity, moisture, and particle size before they ever touch production lines.
- In-Process Monitoring: Real-time analytical tracking during unit operations like spray drying, fluid bed processing, and blending.
- Finished Product Validation: Comprehensive on-site testing—including particle size distribution (PSD), microbiological screening, and moisture analysis—to guarantee customer specifications are met.
- Site Certifications: AVEKA’s Minnesota locations are certified to ISO 9001 and the AVEKA Iowa sites are certified to FSSC 22000.
- It’s worth nothing that our Minnesota locations are currently pursuing EFfCI GMP Certification for Cosmetic Ingredient manufacturing. We are expected to be certified in April 2027.
- Site Certifications: AVEKA’s Minnesota locations are certified to ISO 9001 and the AVEKA Iowa sites are certified to FSSC 22000.
Clean Environments and Food-Grade Processing
For sensitive food ingredients and specialty chemicals environmental control is critical. Operating within clean, processing rooms ensure that products maintain their integrity throughout processing.
Our food-grade processing facilities feature robust environmental monitoring programs developed to eliminate microbial and particulate risks. Key features include:
- Sanitary Design Principles: Processing equipment constructed from food-grade stainless steel with smooth, cleanable surfaces to prevent product buildup and improve sanitation cycles.
- Stringent Sanitation Protocols: Rigorous clean-in-place (CIP) and clean-out-of-place (COP) procedures executed between campaigns to eliminate allergen cross-contact and microbial growth.
Navigating Regulatory Compliance
Meeting the high standards established by the FDA, and global certification bodies requires more than just following the rules—it requires a culture of continuous compliance. Our teams work closely with regulatory frameworks such as Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) to ensure full traceability and product safety.
By maintaining legible documentation, validated processes, and detailed batch records, we provide our customers with the peace of mind that their products are manufactured in a safe, fully compliant facility.
Partnering for Safe, Scalable Success
Quality and Safety enable innovation. By combining state-of-the-art particle processing technology with unwavering quality oversight, AVEKA helps bring safe, high-performing food and specialty products to market efficiently.
