Process

Traditional mechanical mills rely on internal screens to control particle size—a design highly prone to binding, screen breakage, and costly product contamination.

At AVEKA, our Air Swept Pulverizer (ASP) services offer a high-energy, screenless alternative. Utilizing high-velocity impact energy and intense internal turbulence, the ASP fractures particles against specialized liners and each other. The result is an ultra-fine, tightly controlled particle size distribution achieved with maximum uptime and absolute product purity.

Solved Challenges & Supported Materials
  • Eliminating Screen Blinding: Perfect for materials that traditionally clog or blind screens in standard hammermills.
  • Processing Heat-Sensitive Powders: Safely grinds materials with low melting points without thermal degradation.
  • Target Materials: * Heat-sensitive polymers and specialty chemical resins.
    • Food ingredients and agricultural bulk powders.
    • Highly abrasive mineral materials requiring minimal mechanical wear.
Backed by 30+ Years of Particle Expertise

Scaling a milling process from a lab concept to commercial truckloads requires deep engineering insight. At AVEKA, we don’t just run equipment—we optimize it. Our collaborative engineering teams work with you to adjust feed rates, tip speeds, and airflow dynamics to meet your exact target specifications.

Capabilities and Equipment Specs
  • High-Volume Thermal Control: Features a massive 1,750 CFM airflow system that sweeps material through the grinding chamber rapidly. This minimizes residence time and thermal buildup, making it ideal for food-grade products and heat-sensitive specialty chemicals.
  • Tunable Grinding Intensity: Configurable with 2 to 5 rotating beater plates and operating at speeds up to 3,900 RPM, allowing our engineering teams to dial in the exact particle fineness your application requires.
  • Inline Hybrid Processing: Our ASP setup includes a Zigzag blender integration, allowing us to seamlessly execute liquid-to-powder blending immediately prior to the milling process for complex formulations.
Factors to Consider
  • What is the melting point and heat sensitivity of your material? Because the ASP utilizes a high-volume, 1,750 CFM air-swept design, it continuously cools the grinding chamber. If your powder has a low melting point or is highly heat-sensitive, the ASP can safely process it without the thermal degradation or melting common in traditional hammermills.
  • What is the starting moisture content and feed consistency? The ASP is highly efficient for a wide variety of bulk solids, but performs optimally with relatively dry feed stocks. If your formulation requires complex additive integration, are you looking to utilize our inline Zigzag blender to blend liquids into your powder immediately prior to the milling step?
  • What is your target micron size and particle distribution? The ASP is an incredibly tunable instrument. Our engineering teams can adjust specific “levers”—such as increasing the rotational speed up to 3,900 RPM, slowing the feed rate, or configuring between 2 to 5 rotating beater plates—to hit your exact target specifications.
  • How abrasive is the product being milled? The ASP reduces particle size by fracturing material against specialized liners and through particle-on-particle impact turbulence. If your material is highly abrasive, we can evaluate its characteristics during an initial R&D trial to optimize the run and protect product purity.
