The customer was looking to manufacture a food grade ingredient that would be cold water soluble and maintain its original color, flavor and nutritional value during the drying process. The starch-like product was a high viscosity material that needed to be able to reconstitute immediately in cold water, so ensuring the proper particle size, dispersibility and flaky texture was very important.
AVEKA used drum drying, a low temperature form of drying, to create the flaky large particle material that would maintain the original product attributes. In order to ensure an even particle size, the material was hammer milled prior to packaging into 50 pound bags. Test runs at our food grade facility confirmed drum drying was the right drying technology to meet customer requirements. AVEKA worked closely with the customer to ensure the finished powder would formulate into their finished product line.
