The Minnesota Section is a regional section of the Institute of Food Technologists (INSTITUTE) a non-profit scientific society which offers a broad program of publications, scientific meetings and educational activities for its members and the public. The mission of the INSTITUTE is to promote the application of science and technology for the improvement of production, processing, packaging, distribution, preparation, evaluation and utilization of foods in order to provide better and more adequate foods for people. The Minnesota Section was formed to meet the following objectives:
- To promote interest in the field of food science and technology
- To encourage and provide forms for discussing and disseminating technical and other information relating to the production, processing, packaging, distribution, preparation, evaluation and utilization of food.
- To advance the profession of food science and technology by promoting the maintenance of high professional standards among members.
- To enhance cooperative relations with the facilities and students of educational institutions in the section area the provide food science and technology and related courses.
