   Project Overview:
The customer needed a free flowing powder that is immiscible in water for a medical application.  It was determined that a surface treatment of silica would produce the desired characteristics.

AVEKA Solution:
AVEKA worked closely with the customer's engineers to determine formulations and process requirements. Prior to spray drying, a mixture of silica sol, a co-solvent, and the surface treating agents are prepared in order to create a homogeneous solution. After mixing, the solution is heat treated and spray dried.  This project is regularly reoccurring process with several different product grades.
