In Brief
AVEKA Inc. was the first company to be established in the AVEKA Group. It was founded in 1994 with the divestiture of 3M's Fine Particle Pilot Plant. 3M set up the original facility as the 3M Toner Pilot Plant and converted it to general powder processing in 1986. Willie Hendrickson managed it for 3M and then had the opportunity to acquire the space and equipment and establish it as AVEKA in 1994. The name AVEKA (ä vee' kä) is derived from the Norwegian "Avikka" which means to deviate (as to deviate, or depart from 3M). To our surprise we also found it is a Hebrew word for "dust."

AVEKA, Inc. is located in Woodbury, Minnesota, U.S.A., just off Highway 494 at 2045 Wooddale Drive 15 minutes from the Minneapolis/St Paul International Airport. The AVEKA Inc. facility consists of 47,000 square feet of offices, warehouse, food lab, characterization lab, H2 related rooms, multiple labs for Research & Development projects, walk in solvent hoods and specialty material and process suites.

History
AVEKA Manufacturing is part of the AVEKA Group, which also includes AVEKA, Inc. (a 3M spin-off), Cresco Food Technologies, and AVEKA Nutra Processing. AVEKA Manufacturing was founded in 1996 with the purchase of its current facilities in Fredericksburg, Iowa. The original facility was set up as a cheese processing facility by American Milk Producers, Inc and it is now used for a variety of processes.

Facilities
AVEKA Manufacturing is located in Fredericksburg, Iowa, 90 miles north of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and 80 miles south of Rochester, Minnesota. The facility consists of 63,000 sq. ft. of processing, storage, and office space including cold storage, 150,000 gallons of liquid storage, and both dry and liquid receiving and shipping areas.

AVEKA Nutra Processing is the newest member of the AVEKA Group, increasing our capacity to processing food and nutraceutical products for our customers. ANP is equipped with two tower spray drying systems and an evaporator with new installations planned for roll drying, filtration, and extraction.
